Thank you for thinking of The Mount Arrowsmith Salvation Army this Christmas season. It is through the support of our generous Oceanside Community, that we were able to raise $96,890.60 through the 2024 Christmas Kettle Campaign. On top of the financial donations, many thanks to the Volunteer team who stood with our Kettles, ringing those bells and providing holiday cheer, despite the wind, rain and chilly days. And they did it with a smile! We managed to fill almost 400 Bell Ringer shifts this year! That is a total of 800 hours donated by our dedicated team (some even stayed longer then their scheduled shifts!).
The Salvation Army in Parksville and Qualicum Beach is committed to working with the community members and partners to assist those who are most vulnerable in our community. Your generosity allows us to serve many families at Christmas and throughout the year.
Our Soup Kitchen is a warm place during the cold season, to socialize, rest, and receive a hot, nutritious meal in a secure environment. During the last year we served over 15,500 prepared hot meals out of our Soup Kitchen. Our Food Bank provided over 8,400 shopping appointments to individuals and families where they chose enough food and household supplies to fill several boxes and grocery bags. With your help, this December we provided Christmas hampers to 847 individuals and families. We also provided transportation, food, and furniture gift cards, as well as referrals for social services, housing, and medical assistance through Family Services.
