We like to ensure that every resource entrusted to us is put to good use. We generate a fair amount of compostable materials from our food bank and soup kitchen as we prepare meals and discard food items which are no longer ideal for consumption. We typically send these food items to local farmers to feed their pigs or other animals. In return we will often receive donations of eggs or meat. What a great win-win situation for us both! Over the winter months some farmers sell off their livestock and so we don’t have as many farmers taking our “kitchen scraps” this time of year. If you know of a farmer who would like to come and take our food scraps once or twice a week, please have them contact the administration office at 250-248-8794.
